Metal Grain Silo

Metal grain silos are widely applied to store grains (grain sorghum, oats, wheat, soybeans and corn) on farms. With an opening in the center of the silo, the stored grain could be removed when needed. As the picture shows, the grain is pulled down toward the center of the metal silo and a depression is formed in the middle of the grain.

 
It is dangerous to be inside the grain silo, since if the grain is removed, you will be pulled down toward the bottom of the silo in a matter of seconds! You can’t get out of it by yourself once the grain above your knees. So if it is quite necessary to enter the silo, keep two other people outside the silo who are experienced in rescue. And keep walking along the silo walk when you are inside the metal grain silo.
